On Sunday, in the blistering heat, seven of our nominated volunteers and their invited guests headed down to Taunton for the Netball South West Goalden Globe Award ceremony.
In amongst a dazzling spread of Blue and Gold reflecting the success of our local Team Bath Superleague franchise, our Wiltshire representatives did the whole County proud.
In amongst the mounting tension, we were thrilled to learn that two of our volunteers had been recognised by the Regional Selection Panel for their outstanding efforts this year:
Kelly Allen from Raychem Netball Club in Swindon was awarded the 2013 Officials Award for her outstanding contribution to Officiating in the County and Trudie Procter from Devizes Netball Club won the Mary Bullock Administrator Award for her outstanding contribution to the development of Junior Netball in the County. On Tuesday 16th July a core group of Officials gathered at the WASP offices in Devizes for a WCNA Umpire Development review. The meeting marked the start of a new journey for Officiating, as never before have such a large number of those involved in Umpire Development from each of our three Netball Leagues been brought together in one room to discuss how best we can achieve the targets written in the Wiltshire Netball County Plan.

Wiltshire AGM Awards
At the recent AGM awards were made to volunteers for their commitment to Netball in Wiltshire.
Pat Harris, Wiltshire Chair, made presentations to the following:
Karen Davison, back left, from Moredon Netball Club, who has had to resign her post as Vice Chair, as she has moved to Gloucestershire. Many thanks for her support of the Committee over the past few years and for the experience she has brought to the Role.
Steve Richmond, back right, who has given several years support as Wiltshire Development Officer. Steve, from Pinehurst NC is also involved with Junior Netball in Swindon.
Mo Squires, who was on the Wiltshire Committee for several years as Chair, Vice Chair, Wiltshire Senior Manager and Junior Coach. Mo was unable to attend the AGM and therefore does not appear in the photograph.
Both Steve and Mo have retired from the Committee, but both are still very much involved in Netball in Swindon. Many thanks to them both!
Sharon Panes, front right, who has received her Long Service Medal, giving over 25 years of volunteering as both Umpire and Coach to Croft Netball Club and also works with a local School. Anyone who has seen the quality of Junior Players produced by the Club will recognize the hard work that Sharon and others have put into the development of young players.
